Chapter One: Enter Kiana

“Welcome to Spooky High!”
Many students steppe off the buses that has stopped in front of a large castle, storm clouds were looming overhead and some spirits floating at the very top of one of the turrets. The returning students were dragging in suitcases and others were dragging trunks full of clothes an personal belongs.
A young girl let out a sigh walking towards the schools large gates, she wore a dress in the color of bright blue, on her head she wore a spring hat. Many of the other students who passed by her stopped to stare, some of them even growled in annoyance.
“Who let in little Miss Sunshine?” whispered one student with a giggle. “I mean has anyone seen monsters dress that way?”
“She could be a ghost,” another student pointed out.
A ghost floated past and shot a glare in their direction. “Don’t be putting that person in with us ghost, no self-respecting ghost would ever wear such ugly colors!”
“She might be a normie,” A witch whispered. “I heard that there would be some normies coming in from other schools.”
“As long as she stays out of our way we won’t have to scare her back to normie-ville!”  The group of girls began laughing as the girl walked past them.
“Welcome Miss Kiana, we have been expecting you.” A woman dressed in a dark cloak smiled at the young girl. “We have been expecting your arrival all day.”
Kiana smiled and bowed in respect. “I am much honored to have been chosen by the Principal of my school to be given this opportunity.”
The woman smiled and handed Kiana a sheet of paper. “This is your class schedule and your room assignment, its best that you spend the day finding yourself around and getting to know your roommates.”
Kiana nodded and took a look at her room assignment. “Let’s see my room is Room 102, in the North Tower…that doesn’t sound so bad.” She thought for a moment. “I wonder what my roommates are like.”

“Welcome back to school Livia!”
A blonde girl ran over to her friend and hugged her tightly. “I am so glad you have decided to attend school here again!”
“Could you let me go?” Livia gasped out trying to get free from her friend’s death grip. “You’re suffocating me.”
The blonde let her go and giggled. “I am so excited that we get to be roommates, I have even decided to let you have the top bunk.”
“That is nice Irena,” Livia looked in the corner and saw a black coffin decorated with a rose pattern sitting in the corner of the room. “We have another roommate?”
Irena thought for a moment. “Yes, her name is Rosetta, she’s a vampire or so I was told.”
“Great that’s all we need…a self absorbed Vampire…” Livia pulled out a scarf. “I am putting on a scarf so she won’t drink my blood if she wakes up for a midnight snack.”
The doors were thrown open as a girl walked in dragging a trunk behind her, she stopped walking and sat down on top of it to take a breather, she looked up and saw Irena and Livia staring down at her.
“Hey what’s up, I’m Rosetta!”
“Welcome new friend!” Irena held out a hand to welcome Rosetta with a handshake. “I’m Irena!”
“Charmed,” Rosetta smiled as her fangs glistened in the light. “I’ve never been roommates with a Zombie or Elf before.”
“The quiet one is Livia,” Irena explained. “She is very glad to meet you but she can be very tense…she thinks you’re going to drink her blood.”
“I would never do that,” Rosetta said. “There are plenty of others that I can go after.”
“That’s good to know,” Livia smiled and extended her hand to shake Rosetta’s. “So are you in any of our classes?”
“No,” Rosetta explained. “I attend night classes, which will be a real drag again this year.”
“That doesn’t sound fun…” Irena bounded over to her desk and picked up a bottle. “If you would excuse me…I need to take this to the school nurse.”
“Why?” Livia asked, she thought for a moment. “Never mind…you must be running low again right?”
Irena nodded and rushed out the door.
“What’s with her?” asked Rosetta staring after her.
“Irena needs to recharge every four hours or else her heart will shut down on her.” Livia made a face. “The poor girl missed the first day of last year because she had to stay home.”
“That is bad,” Rosetta looked over towards the wall and saw a basket set up. “Oh there will be another roommate here?”
“I am thinking that judging by the basket it has to be a werewolf girl.” Livia noticed that three trunks were near the wall. “She may have unpacked and left to explore around the school.”
The closet door opened wide as a girl with cat ears and a young man with dog ears tumbled out the closet tangled in a heated kiss.
“Whoa talk about an oral exam!” Rosetta squealed in surprise.
The cat girl broke the kiss and looked up when she saw they had an audience. “Hello…” she casually said. “I’m Hilda…”
“Who’s your hunk of man candy?” asked Livia pointing to the werewolf boy who was blushing.
“This is Wolfie,” Hilda giggled. “He’s the Quarterback on the Spooky ball Team and my boyfriend.”
“Hello ladies,” Wolfie rubbed his head sheepishly. “I’d better be going…see you tonight ok babe?”
Hilda nodded and kissed Wolfie goodbye, as soon as she made sure he was gone she turned towards Livia and Rosetta. “What?”
“Never mind…” Livia made a mental note to cast an anti-werewolf spell around the room.
“So if you’re our other roommate then that means that girly bed is yours as well?” Rosetta pointed to the bed which has a canopy above it.
“Not exactly,” Hilda smiled. “word has it that we have been given the honor of being roommates with a normie!”
“A normie!?” cried Rosetta making a face. “They’re such strange creatures, they actually like being out in the sun.”
“And they possess no natural power of their own,” Livia pointed out.
Hilda nodded. “But let’s give her a chance; I think that normies may not be as bad as our parents make them sound.”

Kiana walked through the hallway of the castle looking at her schedule, she had gotten lost and none of the other students seemed to be interested in helping her find her room.
“What am I going to do?” she looked around at the room numbers and saw that they were in the high nineties.
WHAM!
Kiana tumbled backwards onto the floor and moaned in pain. “What hit me?!” she looked in front of her and saw she had collided with another girl. “Oh my…are you ok!?”
Upon closer inspection, she saw that the girl’s body didn’t have a head. She let out a loud scream and took off down the hallway.
“I killed someone!”
The other girl’s body sat up and felt around for her head.
“Hey you idiot!” cried out Irena’s voice, her head had rolled to the other side of the hallway. “I am over here!”
The headless body walked over and picked up its head as it placed it back on its shoulders and screwed the loose bolts back on.
“That is the last time I use such cheap bolts…” Irena looked over her shoulder and wondered if she should go after the other girl, she shrugged and resumed walking back to her room.
